Annual Appeal Kickoff to be Virtual, and You are Invited

In a socially distant twist to a longstanding spring tradition, the kickoff event for the Because We Are Catholic Annual Appeal will be virtual this year.

Bishop Alfred Schlert invites everyone to “join him” virtually at his home by visiting www.BecauseWeAreCatholic.org/kickoff at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 8.

The 35-minute presentation will include a look ahead by the Bishop to the coming year, and a discussion of all the good works the Appeal supports across the Diocese.

Bishop Schlert will be joined by Kim Viti Fiorentino, the new Secretary for Administration, who “came home” to the Diocese of Allentown recently after working previously as Chancellor and General Counsel for the Archdiocese of Washington, D.C.

The event, hosted by Paul Acampora, Director of Stewardship and Development, also includes brief video presentations about some of the recipients of Appeal funds: St. Joseph Center for Special Learning, Catholic Charities, and St. John Vianney elementary school.

Your donations to the Appeal support seminarians, parish ministries, aid for veterans, food for the hungry, Catholic education, retired priests in good standing, and much more.

The distribution of funds donated to the Appeal is overseen by a group of diocesan lay people, the Board of Trust Advisors.

Please register for this on-line event by April 6 at www.BecauseWeAreCatholic.org/kickoff. For more information, please visit www.BecauseWeAreCatholic.org.

If the miss the virtual event, it will be archived to watch later on the diocesan YouTube channel.
