This week begins a new column in AD Today designed for Spanish-speaking Catholics, entitled Unidos por Cristo, or United in Christ.
The column will be coordinated by Ana Hidalgo, Bishop Alfred Schlert’s Delegate to the Hispanic Community.
Hispanics are a growing percentage of the Catholic population. The five counties of the Diocese of Allentown are home to people with ties to many Spanish-speaking countries. Bishop Schlert created Hidalgo’s new position to help make Hispanic Catholics feel welcome in diocesan parishes.
Unidos por Christo will provide Hispanics with a spiritual reflection in Spanish on a wide variety of topics, such as the Liturgical Season, a saint, the Sunday gospel, or other subjects. Hidalgo will write some installments, and guest columnists will provide others.
