Antibody Treatments and Vaccines Being Used at Holy Family Manor as Part of Proactive Response to Coronavirus

Holy Family Manor residents are receiving antibody treatments to treat symptoms of Covid-19, thanks to the facility’s continuing aggressive approach to managing the Coronavirus.

In addition, Holy Family Manor recently began vaccinating residents and staff.

“We have been told we are among the first long term care facilities in the area to be using these cutting-edge antibody treatments,” said Joseph Shadid, chief executive officer of Holy Family Senior Living.

Residents have been having positive outcomes after the treatments, which are prescribed for each resident by a physician, Shadid said.

Like long term care facilities across the nation, Holy Family Manor has seen increased cases of COVID-19 among residents and staff, particularly since the post-Thanksgiving surge.

The facility has a special isolation unit for residents who are affected. Staff members who test positive are required to quarantine and may not return to work until the appropriate time, all in accordance with federal guidelines.

The facility is working closely with both St. Luke’s University Health Network and Lehigh Valley Health Network in its ongoing Coronavirus response. It has enacted a temporary no-visitors policy, and performs regular Coronavirus testing of residents and staff.

“We are aggressively and proactively taking steps every day to minimize the impact of COVID-19 on our facility, our residents, and our staff,” said Shadid.

Holy Family Senior Living is a ministry of the Diocese of Allentown, providing the elderly with quality physical, emotional, social and spiritual care, with dignity and compassion.
