Join Bishop Alfred Schlert via livestream from the Cathedral of St. Catharine of Siena Sunday afternoon for a special reflection and prayer marking Divine Mercy Sunday.
Beginning at 2 p.m., there will be an hour of Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Silent Adoration. Then, at 3 p.m., Bishop Schlert will offer a short reflection on Divine Mercy. You can view the livestream beginning at 2 p.m. on AD Today.
The Bishop’s reflection will be followed by the chanting of the Divine Mercy Chaplet, which is recited using Rosary beads of five decades.
Divine Mercy Sunday celebrates God’s loving mercy toward all people. It falls on the Sunday after Easter, also known as the Octave of Easter, and is based on the visions of and conversations with Jesus reported by St. Faustina, who was a Polish nun in the early Twentieth Century.
A plenary indulgence is available for those people who pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet. The Vatican has set the following conditions to receive an indulgence: The will to obtain sacramental Confession and Eucharistic communion as soon as possible; prayer according to the Holy Father's intentions; and intentions to implore from Almighty God the end of the epidemic, relief for those who are afflicted and eternal salvation for those whom the Lord has called to Himself.
