Catholic Charities Will Administer Covid Relief Program in Carbon

Catholic Charities has been asked by Carbon County officials to administer a new rent-relief program designed to help people who are unemployed because of the Coronavirus and also are falling behind on their rent.

It’s a way for the agency to provide additional services in an area of the Diocese where many people are economically disadvantaged, according to Rob Nicolella, Catholic Charities executive director.

Those who apply for the program may be eligible for up to $750 per month toward their rent for up to six months.

The funding is provided by the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency’s 2020 Pennsylvania CARES Rent Relief Program. Applications will be accepted beginning July 6.
