Catholic School Grads Among Those to be Honored by Lighting Allentown's Skyline

Allentown Central Catholic, Bethlehem Catholic and Notre Dame are among 22 high schools in Lehigh and Northampton Counties whose graduates will be honored by a special light show in downtown Allentown.

The Downtown Business Community, led by PPL Corporation and City Center Investment, will be lighting Allentown’s skyline in school colors every day in June to honor the graduating seniors of the Lehigh Valley’s high schools.

Allentown Central Catholic will lead the way when, on June 1, buildings throughout Downtown Allentown, including the PPL Tower, Two, Three and Five City Center and Tower Six will be lit in the school’s color, which is green. On June 3, Bethlehem Catholic’s gold will light the buildings and on June 14 the buildings will be lit in Notre Dame’s blue and gold.

In a news release, Lissette Santana, PPL’s Senior Manager Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability, said, “With proms, graduations and other senior year milestones cancelled or postponed due to COVID-19, Allentown’s business leaders wanted to shine a light (literally) on students’ achievements."

Nightly photos will be posted on PPL Corporation’s social media channels featuring each night’s school of honor.
