Bishop Alfred Schlert has issued a dispensation relieving the faithful of their Easter Duty this year.

Easter Duty is the obligation of Catholics to receive Holy Communion and to make a Confession between the first Sunday of Lent and Trinity Sunday, which falls this year on June 7.

The Coronavirus pandemic has disrupted the normal availability of Holy Communion and Confession this year. In the interest of safety and the health of the faithful, the obligation is lifted for this year. The faithful are still encouraged to make a Confession before receiving Holy Communion, if they are conscious of mortal sin.
