Here is this week's installment of "Five Faith Friday" which contains five, faith-based things I found interesting and am sharing on Friday.
What I'm Keeping In Mind --
That Jesus is our greatest hope. You can't put your trust and hope in a politician no matter who the person is. As obvious as it may sound, no politician is getting you to Heaven. "Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but by me." (John 14:6 RSVCE). I'd challenge you to reflect upon how much time you spent over the past week focused on politics. How many hours did you spend on election day and the following days browsing the same media over and over again? What if you spent that time in prayer? What if you spend 50% of that time in prayer? "Rejoice always, pray constantly, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 RSVCE). And don't be afraid to pray to St. Joseph! Pope Benedict XVI said, "If discouragement overwhelms you, think of the faith of Joseph; if anxiety has its grip on you, think of the hope of Joseph; if exasperation or hatred seizes you, think of the love of Joseph, who was the first man to set eyes on the human face of God in the person of the Divine Infant."
What In-Person Event I'm Excited About --
The "Be Not Afraid" Men's Conference featuring Adam Minihan and David Niles from the hit podcast "The Catholic Man Show" as well as internationally renowned Catholic author, radio host, and evangelist - Jesse Romero! The conference is on Saturday, November 21st and runs from 9:30am until 12:00pm at the Cathedral in Allentown, PA. There are a limited seats due to covid restrictions so make sure you register asap. Let me know if you plan to go and we can meet up!
What Fun Fact I Learned --
That roughly 30% of the 266 Popes in history have been declared Saints. Starting with St. Peter, 52 of the first 55 Popes became Saints during Catholicism's first 500 years. In the last 1,000 years though, just seven Popes have been made Saints.
Which Quote I'm Reflecting On --
"Until you are convinced that prayer is the best use of your time, you will never find time to pray." -Father Hilary Ottensmeyer, OSB. On Wednesday, Pope Francis said, “A day lived without prayer risks being transformed into a bothersome or tedious experience” where “all that happens to us could turn into a badly endured and blind fate.”
What Music Video I Found Powerful --
"Little Drummer Boy" by For King and Country. I know it isn't even Advent yet, but they released their music video for the song and boy oh boy is it fantastic. Give it a watch and enjoy!
Have a wonderful weekend and may God bless you and your family!
