The Diocesan Blood Drive has concluded with a total of 560 successful donations from clergy, staff, Knights of Columbus, parishioners, and students of the Diocese of Allentown, resulting in 661 units of lifesaving blood products.
“The results from the blood drive are especially remarkable, as they show an over 50% increase in blood donations from the diocesan community compared to the same timeframe last year,” said Monika Wiegers, Director of Donor Relations at Miller-Keystone Blood Center, in an email.
“We are deeply appreciative of all the time, effort, and resources that went into making this initiative possible and so successful,” Wiegers continued. “The teamwork between the diocese, your member churches, and Miller-Keystone Blood Center exemplifies the spirit of service that is so vital to our mission.”
“We were honored to participate in this essential service to our community,” responded Bishop Schlert. “God bless your life-saving work!”
Looking ahead, the Diocese plans to make the blood drive an annual event, encouraging even greater participation and continuing its commitment to serving others.
Thanks to the success of this year’s blood drive, the Diocese of Allentown has not only helped alleviate the national blood shortage, but has also reinforced its dedication to serving the greater good as a family of faith, bringing the Light of Christ to one another and to the community.
