Where is God Calling You?

Are you listening to the call that God is placing on your heart? Whether you are discerning marriage, single life, priesthood, or religious life, God has a unique path for you. Spend time deepening your understanding of God’s universal call to holiness.

Join us Saturday, April 12 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at St. Mary, Kutztown for a Vocations Discernment Retreat. This retreat will allow you to encounter speakers from all these callings and give you a space to listen to God’s voice in exploring your vocation. There will also be Holy Mass, lunch, and time for reflection and fellowship.

Keynote speaker will be Dr. Sarah Hulse Kirby, assistant professor of theology and the department chair for theology and philosophy at DeSales University, Center Valley.

She earned her doctorate in 2023 from Marquette University; Master's Degree from the Pontifical John Paul II Institute at The Catholic University of America; and Bachelor's Degree from DeSales University.

Outside of teaching theology, she enjoys spending time with her husband and stepsons.

Singles speaker will be Katie Albright, Director of Catechesis for the Diocese of Allentown.

She received her B.A. in English literary studies from York College of Pennsylvania; her M.T.S. from Harvard Divinity School, and her M.A. in Hebrew Bible/Old Testament from Duke University. She taught high school theology for 13 years.

Marriage speakers will be Dr. Michael and Cary St. Pierre. Michael is Superintendent of Schools in the Diocese of Allentown. He was previously the Executive Director of the Catholic Campus Ministry Association.

Cary is Director of Marketing and Fund Development for the Shrine of St. Joseph in Stirling, N.J. They have been married for 26 years and have four children.

Priesthood speaker will be Father John Maria, Vocations Director of the Diocese of Allentown and Pastor of St. Mary, Kutztown. Ordained to the priesthood at age 51 in 2019, he brings unique experience in vocation discernment.

A former business owner, Father Maria is the proud father of an adult son who is happily married with three sons ranging from ages 1 to 6. Father Maria baptized all his grandsons.

Religious speaker will be Sister Mathilde DeLucy. She is from Scranton and joined the Sisters of Christian Charity in 2011. She has taught for eight years.

She made her perpetual profession in 2021 and now serves as Director of Campus Ministry and Choir Director at Allentown Central Catholic High School, where she is grateful to guide her students spiritually.
