Special Collection for Hurricane Relief

Hurricane Helene has struck hard and caused much damage across the Southeastern Region of the United States. In addition to over 200 lives lost, the storms have left large areas in utter destruction, which will take months, if not years, to rebuild. In addition, Hurricane Milton is expected to cause additional devastation.

The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops has requested that each Bishop take up a collection within his Diocese to aid in the recovery efforts. The funds raised for this purpose will be administered through the Bishops’ Emergency Disaster Fund, which will work with Catholic Charities USA for the distribution of the monies.

Bishop Schlert has authorized one collection for both hurricanes to be taken up in the parishes in the Diocese of Allentown on any weekend during October. This will be a cash collection; no special envelope will be provided.
