College students from around the Diocese are invited to join Bishop Alfred Schlert as he celebrates Palm Sunday Mass at 9:10 p.m. April 10 in Lehigh University’s Packer Memorial Church.
“Palm Sunday marks Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem,” Bishop Schlert said. “I look forward to celebrating this special liturgy with college students as we embark on our journey through Holy Week together.”
There will be Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, and Confessions will be available, before the Mass, from 8 p.m. through 9 p.m.
Palm Sunday is named for the palm branches the crowds spread on the ground as Jesus entered Jerusalem riding a donkey.
The Palm Sunday Mass also is known for the recitation of the Passion Gospel, a retelling of the account of Jesus’ suffering, death, and resurrection.
