Free Resources for the Blind and Visually Impaired to Use at Mass

Catholics who are blind or visually impaired are eligible to receive free braille or large-print materials – including the readings, prayers and responses for Sunday Mass.

The Xavier Society for the Blind has been providing free assistance since 1900 to those who require materials in braille, audio, or large-print format.

In addition to the readings and prayers for Mass, which are mailed out well in advance, the society also provides the New American Bible, a collection of bible stories for children, various periodicals, and other books including “With God in America” by Father Walter Ciszek.

For more information on the Xavier Society, including how to receive materials and how to donate to this free ministry, visit xaviersocietyfortheblind.org.

In the Diocese of Allentown, the contact for the Ministry With Persons With Disabilities is Ms. Pamela Russo, Secretary for Catholic Health, Human Services, and Youth Protection. She can be reached at 610-871-5200, Ext. 2204, or by email at prusso@allentowndiocese.org.
