Anyone who attends this year’s March for Life events in Washington, D.C. – any anyone who participates virtually – will receive a plenary indulgence, which is an application of God’s Divine Mercy to remove the effects of past sin.
The 49th Annual National March for Life will be held in Washington on January 21. Other events, which can be attended virtually or in person, are:
- The National Prayer Vigil at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 20 at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. For more info, click here.
- The Mass for Life on Jan. 21 at the Cathedral of Saint Matthew the Apostle. For more information click here.
Bishops around the country were notified of the availability of indulgences related to these events by Cardinal Wilton Gregory, Archbishop of Washington.
Cardinal Gregory said virtual participation, for those who cannot leave their homes due to age, sickness, or other grave reasons, also includes joining the events via television, radio, and social media.
Some diocesan high school students, along with parents, teachers, and priest chaplains, are planning to attend the March. Bishop Alfred Schlert will celebrate Mass for them on their way to the nation's capital on Friday morning, Jan. 21, at the Basilica of the Assumption in Baltimore.
