Patriotic Concert Set for September 11 at Cathedral

A program of patriotic choir music, hymns of peace, and readings from our nation’s founding documents will be held at the Cathedral of St. Catharine of Siena at 3 p.m. Sunday, September 11, to help remember the terrorist attacks on our nation 21 years ago.

The program, entitled "For God and Country," will honor first responders and members of all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces.

The concert part of the afternoon will feature the Cathedral’s combined choirs singing patriotic favorites and hymns of peace, according to Beverly McDevitt, Cathedral Choir Director.

Bishop Alfred Schlert is scheduled to attend the program, which also will include readings of scripture, readings from the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, as well as quotes from our Founding Fathers.

Attendees who are first responders are invited to wear their uniforms. A free-will offering will be collected to benefit first responders and the Cathedral choir programs.
