Polar Plunge to Support Marian Catholic High School

The weather on Saturday is expected to be below freezing with a brisk northwest wind – perfect conditions to go jump in a lake to benefit Marian Catholic High School.

The high school’s annual Polar Plunge, a frigid-but-fun fundraising event, is scheduled for noon January 30 at Mauch Chunk Lake in Jim Thorpe.

The sturdiest among those in attendance will go swimming in the icy waters. Others may want to register as “chickens” to make a donation to the school and get a commemorative T-shirt without having to actually do the chilly deed.

But even if you don’t want to become an ice cube by taking a dip, and even if you don’t want to register as a paid supporter, everyone is welcome to come out and watch and cheer. Registration begins at 10 a.m. on the beach area of Mauch Chunk Lake Park.
